Custom Built Structure for Store Opening

Here’s a look at the planning and execution steps involved in the construction of a custom structure which was installed for a store opening party in Los Angeles’ Abbot Kinney (Venice Beach) neighborhood.

This was a 2-week project.

PLANNING

Our client – Canadian apparel brand Kit & Ace – had rented an adjacent parking lot which they wanted to turn it into an event space. The centerpiece was supposed to be a giant “A Frame” structure above the parking lot.

BUILD AND INSTALLATION

The structure had to be 22 feet high by 30ft long and we had to calculate angles, materials to make sure it would be stable and resistant – you can see the concept below.

The finish on the wood was an ash color to match the floors from the boutique next door

It took us 2 weeks to build it and we had to set it up overnight, the night before the event.

We also provided and professionally installed all the flooring and custom made furniture.
